The RPS is embarking on a project to develop and publish core principles for medicines optimisation, a patient focused, outcome based, clinically led approach to optimising medicines use.
The principles aim to help healthcare and social care professionals and patients understand the concept of medicines optimisation, ensuring that investments in services and treatments are optimised to deliver the best possible care that is adaptable and sustainable over time. They will underpin patient experience and the safe, effective use of medicines within and across organisations, protecting patients from incidents of avoidable harm and enabling them to get the best outcomes from their medicines. Attached is a briefing which gives more information about the project.
We would like to invite a representative from your organisation to be a member of the advisory group and help us to develop core principles that are applicable for a multidisciplinary healthcare environment. We are looking for active practitioners i.e. currently working in practice and who may have an interest in medicines management and medicines optimisation. The advisory group will be virtual and attached is a copy of the terms of reference.
