Black History Month Celebrations

It’s Black History Month, which gives us all the chance to mark the achievements and influence of Black people in the UK.

Questions about Black identity and belonging have never been more front and centre in our culture. We want to celebrate the contributions Black pharmacists have made to the profession this month and throughout the year.

During October we’ll provide opportunities to hear more about the challenges, hopes and concerns of Black pharmacists through a series of Facebook Live events, in partnership with the UK Black Pharmacists Association (UKBPA), to be held on Wednesdays at 1pm. If you can’t join in at the time, catch up later on our Facebook page.

The topics of discussion this month will be:

  • Celebration: Join us to celebrate the fantastic achievements of Black pharmacists across the profession on Weds 7 October.
  • Barriers: Find out more about the barriers faced by Black pharmacists, how they affect progression and representation and what needs to change to remove them on Weds 14 October.
  • Allyship: What is allyship? Why is it important and how can you be an ally? On Thursday 22nd October this time.
  • The Future: A panel of inspiring early career Black pharmacists sharing their hopes and ambitions for the future? And how we can make these happen? Weds 28 October

RPS Wales is also hosting a national event with UKBPA via Zoom on Wednesday 21st October at 8pm, which will focus on highlighting some of the issues black pharmacists face on a daily basis. All are welcome, click here for more details.
