Community pharmacy funding: We talk to LBC Radio

RPS President Sandra Gidley has been interviewed on LBC Radio, calling for fairer funding for community pharmacy to help tackle the financial burden of COVID-19.

In the interview, Sandra highlighted the vital role that pharmacies have played throughout the pandemic, in remaining open to provide essential care for patients when other health centres were closed.

She also stressed that as a result of an “upsurge” in demand for services, many pharmacies were reporting severe financial instability and some having to close altogether.

The RPS has called for fairing funding as part of our COVID-19 policy asks to recognise the resilience of the pharmacy profession, shown throughout the pandemic. Fairer funding is vital in helping to improve cash flow issues and reduce the risk of job losses.
