Explore the new RPS museum microsite

From the weird and wonderful, to the interesting and intriguing: around since 1842, the RPS museum has over 2,000 items to view.

Now is your chance to explore some of these wacky and quirky items in the amazing RPS museum, or just learn more about the history of pharmacy, as the new museum microsite opens today.

As well as being able to browse objects from across the RPS Museum's diverse collection, you can explore the history of pharmacy further with special online exhibitions. And all from the comfort of your own home or work.

Meet the people who have contributed to the development of pharmacy, learn about the origins of Lea & Perrins Worcestershire sauce, and even find out what Holdroyd's Celebrated Stomach and Liver Pills are – and why they’re celebrated.

Current exhibitions include Celebrating Women in Pharmacy and Pharmacy: The Mother of Invention. Keep an eye on our social media over the coming days to get a taste of some of the weird and wonderful articles on display.

RPS Chief Executive Paul Bennett said: “The museum is a vital part of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society, and so I am delighted that today we have announced the opening of our online museum microsite.

“The new microsite makes items in the museum more accessible, so that they can be viewed by many more people and get the attention they deserve. This means pharmacists, other healthcare professionals, and the public, will be able to learn more about the history of medicines and the profession.

“We hope the ever-changing exhibitions will shine a light on some of the most interesting social and scientific areas of pharmacy, and that visitors will be able to learn something new every time.”

If that’s not enough, listen in to the RPS Pharma Scene podcast this Friday, December 17, to hear an extra special Christmas edition of the podcast and step in to Fanny Potter’s pharmacy…
