Hear Wales Director Elen Jones on BBC Radio 4

You can now hear our Director for Wales Elen Jones speak on the BBC Radio 4 PM programme from Wednesday, October 6 about independent prescribing. 

Pharmacists are able to have a consultation with a patient and could provide a prescription, as well as dispensing those recommended by doctors.

Elen said: "Pharmacists are extremely busy and pharmacies have remained open to the public during the pandemic, but we are very keen as a profession to maximise our clinical capabilities and knowledge, and that really is what independent prescribing enables pharmacists to do.

"They will be able to work at the top of their license where they are having greater clinical input."
