RPS England Board meeting - January update

RPS England Board Chair Claire Anderson comments on the highlights of the January meeting:

"The Board discussed how RPS can support and engage with our members through what looks to be a year of change for pharmacy,  with the further roll-out of the community pharmacy contract, developing Primary Care Networks, and growing demand for pharmacists across the country.

“We welcomed the early uptake of the new Community Pharmacists Consultation Service and hope the NHS can build on this success to make the most of pharmacists’ clinical expertise to support patient care.

“Realising the ambitions of NHS Long-Term Plan will need health professionals with the right mix of skills, so it was great to hear about the huge amount the work RPS is doing this year on education, such as developing a Foundation Pharmacist curriculum, supporting quality assurance for consultant pharmacist posts, or working across the profession on education and training standards.

“We also discussed the initial survey results on workforce wellbeing, which underlined just how important it is that pharmacists get the help they need as we ask them to play a more clinical role in a changing NHS. We’ve committed to to use the evidence from the survey to work with government, NHS and others across the profession so that pharmacists get equal access to support."
