RPS English Pharmacy Board elects Claire Anderson as Chair

Claire Anderson, Professor of Social Pharmacy at the University of Nottingham, has been elected as Chair of the RPS English Pharmacy Board.  She takes over from Sandra Gidley, who has stepped down from the role. Martin Astbury, a former President of the RPS, has been elected Vice-Chair of the Board.  Both have a tenure of two years.

Claire and Martin will also serve on the RPS Assembly alongside Board members Sandra Gidley, David Carter and Sibby Buckle, who were elected to the Assembly at the same meeting.

Claire was elected a member of the English Board in 2012, and has also served as Vice-Chair.  Claire said: “I feel very humbled and privileged to be Chair. The RPS is unique in representing all pharmacists from across all sectors and supporting them as they face massive organisational, economic and technological changes. Pharmacy is on the agenda of NHS England, the health professional Royal Colleges and also in the media like never before. We are getting the professional recognition we deserve, but we need to continue to strengthen the value of pharmacists and act as representatives for the profession. I am looking forward to working with my colleagues on the Board and across RPS.”
