Support Alert

Supply disruption alert: Lithium carbonate (Priadel) 200mg and 400mg modified release tablets

We issued a news item last week welcoming the pause in the withdrawal of Priadel. More details can be found here.

Following this announcement, the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) has issued a supply disruption alert for Lithium carbonate (Priadel) 200mg and 400mg modified release tablets advising that there is no longer the need for clinicians to switch people to alternative products until further notice.

Ordering quotas are in place across wholesalers for the foreseeable future to ensure supplies continue for all patients. Quotas are reset on the 1st of each month.

Further information including details on the background of the supply disruption and updated advice on lithium carbonate prescribing and product availability can be found on the DHSC supply disruption alert.
