RPS England Board Meeting – October update

RPS England Board Chair Claire Anderson comments on the highlights of the October meeting:

“Our last Board meeting of the year marked the launch of our wellbeing survey on World Mental Health Day, in partnership with Pharmacist Support. The survey is open to all pharmacists across Great Britain, whether they are members of RPS or not. The Board are keen to highlight the pressures that pharmacists and pre-registration trainees experience in their day-to-day lives and ensure they get the support they need. A big thanks are due to Pharmacist Support for their help in launching this survey and I was delighted we were able to showcase their valuable work and their #GoGreen4PS campaign in our meeting.

“Pharmacogenomics and new technologies have the potential to transform pharmacy, patient care and safety. The Board were keen to learn more about these exciting areas. Evolving and expanding digital capabilities within the pharmacy profession will be a really important topic and the RPS will be looking at this further in the coming months.

“Education and professional development remain a key focus for RPS. As the NHS continues to change, we recognise the importance of supporting members in responding to developments such as the Community Pharmacist Consultation Service. The Board also discussed our work on foundation, training and credentialing to support the future workforce and how this links into the NHS People Plan.

“We also noted our new mentoring system launched last week and hope by connecting newer and more experienced pharmacists, members can learn from each other throughout their careers.”
