Social distancing in the workplace - RPS and others give their view

Pharmacists have been in touch with us about how best to prevent COVID transmission in their pharmacies and other workplaces. Much of our focus has been making sure pharmacy gets personal protective equipment, (PPE), and the right guidance on when to use it. We’re hoping for updated guidance soon.

We have signed a letter alongside APTUK and pharmacy regulators across the UK to make sure everyone in pharmacy is, where ever possible, using social distancing alongside PPE.

We recognise that keeping 2 meters apart in a small dispensary can be difficult or in some cases impossible, in which case PPE would be appropriate. We also want pharmacists, their teams, and the public they serve to be aware that when they can, keeping 2 meters apart is the most effective strategy to reduce the chance of passing on a COVID infection.
