DNP (2,4 dinitrophenol) toxicity

Public Health England (PHE’s) has issued an alert to provide advice  on DNP (2,4 dinitrophenol) toxicity. NHS frontline staff should remain vigilant for cases of DNP poisoning, the alert highlights clinical features of DNP poisoning. Clinicians should note and act in accordance with the clinical management advise in the letter when patients who are suspected of taking DNP are encountered.

See the alert for further details for further information and action for clinicians.

In March this year, we wrote a letter urging the Government to immediately ban DNP, further details of this can be found here
