Wuhan novel coronavirus: Updated advice for the NHS in Wales

The Chief Medical Officer for Wales has issued an updated alert for all clinical staff encountering patients with respiratory infections who have arrived from overseas. Public Health Wales has issued updated guidance on the management of a suspected case of Wuhan novel coronavirus.

The recommendation for all travellers from Wuhan is that they should self-isolate for 14 days, even if they do not have symptoms, due to the increased risk from that area.

The recommendation for all other travellers from mainland China who develop relevant symptoms, however mild, within 14 days of returning, should self-isolate at home immediately and call NHS Direct Wales on 0845 46 47 or phone 111 if available in their area (Hywel Dda, Powys, Aneurin Bevan and Swansea Bay).

The letter and guidance can be accessed on our Wuhan novel coronavirus hub page
