The RPS Public Affairs Team has been engaging with politicians and other stakeholders to raise awareness of the vital role pharmacists play in delivering public health advice and care to people. Previous fringe meetings at the party political conferences have carried a public health theme, in addition to discussions at the All-Party Pharmacy Group. A briefing has been created to help inform politicians of the benefits pharmacy-led public health services can bring. Prevention of disease is a major issue across the NHS and pharmacists have a vital role to play in keeping people well and healthy. An example of how this can be implemented in practice is a Healthy Living Pharmacy which has demonstrated benefits to patients and the public.
The Public Affairs Team meets politicians on an individual basis, where public health is a key theme.
