Becoming an RPS Fellow

Fellows-resize531x254

Being appointed a Fellow of the Society is one of the highest honours we can bestow upon our Members.

Fellowship is an honour which recognises those individuals who have attained distinction in their pharmacy career. As Fellowships are based on nominations from Members, they signify the esteem in which the individual is held by his or her peers.

Nominations for Fellowship are welcome at any point of the year and the Panel of Fellows will be holding their next meeting in November 2021.

Eligibility

Nominees must:

  1. Be a Member of the Society
  2. Have made an outstanding original contribution to the advancement of pharmaceutical knowledge or attained distinction in the science, practice, profession or history of pharmacy.

Please note that Fellowship is not a lifetime achievement award; nominations for younger pharmacists who meet the eligibility criteria are more than welcome and will be considered in the same way as nominations for more experienced pharmacists.

Nominating Fellows

Any member of the Society can nominate another Member for a Fellowship providing the nominee meets the eligibility criteria above. To nominate someone you'll need to download the guidelines and nomination form below.

DOWNLOAD NOMINATION FORM AND GUIDELINES

  • The nominator’s proposal should be supported by two further Members or Fellows
  • Anyone nominating a Member for a Fellowship is asked to complete the nomination form and provide a supporting statement
  • The two supporters are also asked to provide supporting statements
  • A CV is required by the Panel.

Please note that nominations for a family member for Fellowship will not be accepted.

Group nominations will not be accepted by the Panel. Each person should be nominated on a separate nomination form, as the Panel needs to assess the unique contribution of each individual in assessing a person for Fellowship.

Remember:

Please complete all parts of the form, answer all the questions, provide supporting statements and a CV, as a decision can normally only be made on the evidence submitted as part of the nomination process

If the procedure is not followed and an incomplete nomination is submitted the Panel may not be able to accept it.

Optimise your chance of success

As the nominator of a prospective Fellow, you want to do your professional colleague justice when you complete the nomination form. But how do you make sure your submission makes it easy for the Panel of Fellows to understand what sets this pharmacist apart and see clearly why the Award should be made?

Appointing Fellows

The Assembly appointed Panel of Fellows review all nominations and determine who will be awarded a Fellowship of the Society.

Nominations can be submitted at any time by sending your nomination forms to [email protected]

The Panel meet twice a year in May and November to consider the nominations and make a decision.

The list of individuals who have been awarded Fellowships is published in the Pharmaceutical Journal following the Assembly meeting where the names are presented.
