Becoming an RPS Fellow

Being appointed a Fellow of the Society is one of the highest honours we can bestow upon our Members.

Fellowship is an honour which recognises those individuals who have attained distinction in their pharmacy career. As Fellowships are based on nominations from Members, they signify the esteem in which the individual is held by his or her peers.

Nominations for Fellowship are welcome at any point of the year and the Panel of Fellows will be holding their next meeting in June 2020.

Nominations for Society Fellowship must be received by the Secretary of the Panel of Fellows by 07 May 2020 to be considered at this meeting.

  • Nominees must have been a Member of the Society for at least 12 years
  • Nominees must have made an outstanding original contribution to the advancement of pharmaceutical knowledge or attained distinction in the science, practice, profession or history of pharmacy

Please note that Fellowship is not a lifetime achievement award; nominations for younger pharmacists who meet the eligibility criteria are more than welcome and will be considered in the same way as nominations for more experienced pharmacists.

Nominating Fellows

Any Member of the Society can nominate another Member for a Fellowship providing the nominee meets the eligibility criteria above.

The nominator’s proposal should be supported by two further Members and either the nominator or at least one of the supporters must be a Fellow.

Anyone nominating a Member for a Fellowship is asked to complete the nomination form and provide a supporting statement.

The two supporters are also asked to provide supporting statements.

A CV is required by the Panel.

Please note that if you are nominating a family member for Fellowship, although a supporting statement is welcome, it is advisable not to act as the primary nominator.

Group nominations will not be accepted by the Panel. Each person should be nominated on a separate nomination form, as the Panel needs to assess the unique contribution of each individual in assessing a person for Fellowship .

Please complete all parts of the form, answer all of the questions and provide supporting statements and a CV as a decision can normally only be made on the evidence submitted as part of the nomination process.

If the procedure is not followed and an incomplete nomination is submitted the Panel may not be able to accept it.
