Covid-19 messages: We talk to the media

Pharmacists have been the focus of local media attention this week, showcasing their important role in promoting key covid-19 messages to the public.

RPS England Board member Mahendra Patel has been interviewed by regional broadcasters, including ITV Calendar News and BBC Look North, about the role of pharmacy in combatting covid-19.

The feature on ITV Calendar News brought together two local community pharmacists from areas affected by lockdown restrictions, RPS member Saghir Ahmed, and Asgar Khan as they championed the vital role they are playing in ensuring patient care throughout the pandemic.

In the piece, both Mahendra and Saghir emphasised how pharmacists are “ideally placed” as recognisable healthcare professionals who interact with local communities, so can easily get key messages across to patients to keep them safe during coronavirus.

The RPS have developed posters for pharmacists to use to remind people of social distancing measures in place and that they must wear a face-covering when visiting a pharmacy.
