The Chief Dental Officer for England is promoting early dental access and preventive care for young children aged 0-2 years, in line with a national campaign for a ‘Dental Check by One’ – a first dental visit by a child’s first birthday. This work is part of wider efforts to reduce the large number of children undergoing general anaesthesia for the removal of decayed teeth.
As part of this work, a set of online resources for the wider Health and Social Care and Early Years workforce has been developed to support oral health promotion for children aged 0-2 years in non-dental settings. This includes posters, leaflets and other resources (e.g. Apps, videos, guidance) for the public, patients, parents and carers.
