Can anyone help me on this one please? One of our Health Visitors has visited a neonate to find that another NMP had diagnosed umbilical granuloma, and prescribed silver nitrate for it. The HV was concerned about risk to the neonate and advised mum not to use it, but to keep it clean and dry, because this would likely reduce down in a couple of weeks anyway. She is now asking if she did the right thing?
Has anyone any experience of using silver nitrate for this indication please, or any relevant comments?
