Ruth Edwards
RPS Assembly Member
Ruth is Professor of Pharmacy Education and Head of School of
Pharmacy at University of Wolverhampton. Prior to this she worked at
Aston University, where she was Head of Professional Experience and for
22 years at Robert Gordon University (RGU), Aberdeen, where she
contributed to UG and PG Pharmacy programmes, latterly as Senior
Lecturer and MPharm Course Leader.
Ruth is registered with the General
Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) and is a pharmacist by profession and an
educator by passion! Following an early career in community pharmacy
management, she joined RGU as a teacher practitioner and progressed
through various academic roles across the three Schools of Pharmacy.
Following the award of Ruth’s EdD, she has developed expertise and has
published a range of pharmacy educational research projects, including
in textbooks. Particular interests include creativity in pharmacy
education, education for mental health, person-centred care,
consultation skills, reflective practice and teaching, learning and
innovative assessment.
Ruth is involved in leadership
roles with several national and international pharmacy organisations,
including the Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS), the General
Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) and the International Pharmacy Federation
(FIP).
